One of the most important components of D-Day was a boat? One designed by a Columbus, Nebraska native?

The Higgins Boat. Getting off of one in the first several waves of troops in D-Day, especially at Omaha Beach, likely would have resulted in casualties.
However, its arguable the Higgins Boat, designed and produced by a Columbus, Nebraska native, could be one of the most instrumental components of the D-Day landings.
